What is a plastic credit?
A plastic credit is a digital certificate representing one tonne of plastic waste that has been collected or recycled through a verified project.
Is it the same as “plastic offsetting”?
Plastic credits are one tool for offsetting, but only after robust reduction and circular approaches. Credits should complement — not replace — upstream efforts.
How do you ensure credits are real and not double-counted?
Each credit is uniquely serialised and tracked in a registry. Only after independent verification is it issued and later retired upon use.
Can credits drive real change?
Yes — by channeling funds toward infrastructure, collection systems, recycling facilities, community livelihoods, and greater accountability.
Are credits permanent?
